Join the Montana 250th Commission in celebrating the famous “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere” and the Battles of Lexington and Concord, signaling the start of the American Revolution – by participating in Two Lights for Tomorrow in your own community!
On April 18, 2025, the Montana 250th Commission will lead a ceremony in the Montana State Capitol Rotunda at 10am, where two lights will be displayed as a reminder of the lanterns shining out in the darkness from Boston’s North Church 250 years ago.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
April 18th – We are encouraging everyone across Montana to participate by displaying their own two lights, lanterns, or spotlights – whether at the county courthouse or city hall, or a local museum or community center. Anyone can also display two lights in their own home or business windows to remind passersby of the important role this event played in America’s founding. Local governments and organizations can organize a program and invite your community to gather, hear remarks from local citizens about the lasting meaning of Paul Revere’s Ride and its importance today, and include your local press outlets to spread the word.
April 19th – The day following, individuals and communities are engaged to participate in a Day of Service. Citizens are called on to serve their communities with volunteer projects ranging from park and cemetery clean-ups to community builds, food drives, and card writing to residents of care facilities. The possibilities for service can be tailored to the needs of our citizens and in partnership with service organizations.
